Last March 2020, the COVID 19 crisis began. To respond to the crisis, field hospitals were installed to care patients with coronavirus.
This situation generated a demand for sanitary products. Among the products were clinical furniture to help healthcare personnel to work with the necessary tools.
Like everyone else, the crisis also took us by surprise. “We confined ourselves for a few days in fear and without knowing what would happen in the future,” saysPatrick Behm, CEO of La Pastilla. However,“several orders began to rain down on us,especially for field hospitals and that brought us a volume of projects that was not the usual,” he adds.
The situation required a quick search for new strategies to adapt and respond to the needs of medical equipment.
At La Pastilla, we strengthened as a team. During the health crisis, we manufactured more than 500 hospital trolleys to equip residences and hospitals in Spain.
It was a hard work and with a lot of commitment. Every call we received was an emergency. We had to be prepared.
In La Pastilla Factory, we apply the entire protection protocol with masks, hydroalcoholic gel, distancing and periodically we performed the Antigen Tests on our workers to maintain safety at all times.
We hired more staff who helped us to work faster. “I also came to the factory to help with the organization, it is always good to have more hands to help,” says Patrick.
The year 2020 was a challenge and the experience allowed us to be able to face it. And as Armando Navas, our COO says: “In the crisis, everything we went through as a team is to be applauded, because it was a joint effort in which we were able to respond to the needs that were demanded in record time.”
Thanks to the distributors and companies that trust us, our carts solved the needs of clinical furniture in different countries: Portugal, France, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, among others.
One of the centers for the installation of crash carts, medication transport trolleys and treatment carts, was inthe H-144 temporary hospitalfor patients with covid installed at the Gijón fairgrounds.

The crisis we got through as a company, taught us to react quickly and learn.. Situations may come that destabilize us, “the important thing is to remain with a positive attitude, united and respond in the best possible way to provide solutions,” says Patrick.
In the end, “it is about providing tools that, although they go unnoticed by a patient, are useful for healthcare personnel in their day-to-day”.
We appreciate the trust that our customers and distributors have placed in us during these 20 years. Today, La Pastilla is a national and international benchmark in the hospital trolley manufacturing industry, achieving a presence in 20 countries on 4 continents.
We continue to look for different ways to innovate and help our healthcare staff to be better equipped. If you are interested in knowing our products, contact us. Our staff is willing to advise you on your project to find the best option.
